I live in Pembrokeshire West Wales & I keep a personal stock of champion pedigree chickens. The stability of the bloodline is a very important when looking from a quality of breed aspect.
Stability allows you to predict (with relative certainty) what products your chickens will consistently produce for you. Once you have good starting stock, you can add bloodlines to strengthen prized qualities.

-Meat
-Other qualities (broody etc)
-Rare breeds
I keep a variety of breeds. By keeping to the pedigree requirements and adding a bit of patience, I have over the last 20 years reared some of the finest chickens in the UK.
I hatch the fertilized eggs and raise the chicks.
